The Xiaomi has continued with the metal design concept with plastic bands present at the top and bottom. This design has worked very well for Xiaomi smartphone and they have stuck to this structure for quite a time. In the terms of design, the Redmi Note 5 Pro has nothing that looks different, unique or attractive.

Whereas, the Honor 9N has something new to offer. Surprisingly, the Honor 9N has bezels less curved glass design, that looks very beautiful and points us towards the future of the smartphones. This smartphone has a futuristic design that is no different than a premium smartphone serving a great comfort with a full notch display screen. In comparison to this, the Redmi Note 5 Pro has some bezels around the corner. The Xiaomi should have brought some changes in their design.

Apart from Honor 9N, we have other smartphones too, having better design and looks.

Although, the Redmi Note 5 Pro has a bigger display but the screen resolution is lower as compared to Honor 9N.

Moreover, with ~6 inches display screen along with bezels, the user might not able to use his/her one hand to use Note 5 Pro. Whereas, the Honor 9N does the opposite. It is easy to use, even use can use one hand to use this smartphone all day long.

Out of the box, both smartphones run on the latest Android 8 Oreo operating system. Both have a customized Android environment. The Xiaomi smartphones are powered by EMIUI platform, build using the native builds of the Android software, it has powered with many AI features, themes and performance tweaks. This EMIUI feels very sleek and smooth while using it. But the same, of advanced users, it limited as well.

On Honor 9N, you get customized Android experience too. The Android UI is revamped for Honor users to suit them well. Just like Redmi phones, this interface offers improved user experience and feature-rich panel.

There’s is no way we can conclude a winner based on the Android OS, both have the latest builds with customized UI.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro is powered by the 1.8 GHz, Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor. It is a 64 Bit architecture based processor that works along Qualcomm® Adreno™ 509 GPU, able to render +FHD (18:9) screen. On the other hand, the Honor 9N is backed by HiSilicon Kirin 659 Octa-core (4×2.36 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.7 GHz Cortex-A53) processor with Mali-T830 MP2 GPU.

We find that Honor 9N is taking Android gaming seriously. The Mali-T830 MP2 GPU is powerful as Qualcomm® Adreno™ 530 GPU or somewhat it is better. Additionally, you get a gaming mode that elevates the gaming performance on demand.

In the terms of performance, our vote will pass to Honor 9N.

When it comes to battery life, we find the Redmi Note 5 Pro is a better choice. This smartphone is powered by 4,000 mAh battery while the Honor N9 has only 3,000 mAh. This difference in 1000 mAh makes Xiaomi a clear winner in this aspect.

There is no major difference between the pricing of these two smartphones. The Redmi Note 5 Pro’s 4 GB variant with 64 GB inbuilt storage is about Rs. 14,999 whereas, the 4 GB variant having the same storage space of Honor 9N is around Rs. 13,999. This difference of Rs 1000 adds some more votes to our choice and recommendation.

Other than that, both smartphones support external memory card of up to 256 GB memory. There is a 3 GB variant of Honor 9N as well. And for Redmi Note 5 Pro, you can go for GB RAM variant as well.
