What are the Most Common Problems for iPhones?

Ever since Steve Jobs unveiled the first iPhone at the Macworld conference in 2007, the world hasn’t been the same. Now, just about everyone in the world owns a smartphone – and the device has had knock-on effects in just about every facet of life.

iPhones still reign supreme as the most prestigious and desirable smartphone available, beating off stiff competition from Google’s Pixel. But despite all of that clever engineering, they’re still vulnerable to the occasional failure. Let’s take a look at a few common problems, and see what can be done to fix them.

Water Damage

iPhones are built to be at least water-resistant, but they’re not waterproof. If you’ve gotten water in your phone, then turn off the power and allow it to thoroughly dry out over twenty-four hours. While water damage will void your warranty, it shouldn’t prevent you from seeking help – in many case, a repair shop will be able to identify and fix the problem. You can check for water damage yourself.

Battery Life

The iPhone benefits from a fairly chunky battery, but it’s also burdened with dozens of clever apps which drain that battery very quickly, especially if they’re left active in the background. Shut down apps you aren’t using to extend the battery life. There are a range of other tips you might consider, too.

Frozen Screen

Occasionally, your iPhone may freeze up, much the same as any other computer. If you can’t interact with your device, then the only choice available is often to press the home and sleep buttons at the same time to force a hard reset. Incidentally, this should also work in cases where the iPhone refuses to turn off.

Microphone is broken

The microphone is vulnerable to becoming clogged by dust, which can hugely reduce its performance. Clear the blockage to fix the problem. If it doesn’t work right out of the package, then you might have neglected to remove the protective plastic film, which is there to prevent dust from getting into the hole during transit.

Memory Broken

If the memory inside is exposed to excessive heat or pressure, then it can fail prematurely, preventing your machine from starting at all. Replacing the memory often requires replacing the entire board – though this depends on the model in question.

Bent Phone

The iPhone 6 Plus in particular was notorious for deforming under pressure. If you put it into your pocket and then started moving around, or even just sitting down, then you might find that it’s warped beyond all recognition later on. There’s not a lot that can be done about a bent phone – other than putting it in a place where it won’t come under pressure.

Cracked Screen

Replacing a cracked screen is quite straightforward, though it isn’t necessarily cheap. The glass is bonded to the membrane which actually senses the pressure from your finger, so you need to replace both at the same time.

iPhone insurance

Depending on the damage, your mobile phone may be covered by the insurance and repaired or even replaced. At the price of the smartphone, it is better to have good mobile phone insurance than to be forced to buy a new smartphone, especially if it is expensive.

In addition, you pay a monthly fee for which you have committed yourself for a certain period of time. If you don’t have the financial capacity to buy a new smartphone, you will still have to pay for your package… for nothing.
