In IOCL, the selected candidates will be employed in various areas like Refineries, Marketing, Pipelines, and Business Development, Information Systems, Optimization, or In Subsidiary/Joint Venture Companies. IOCL Recruitment through GATE 2022 is organized to recruit Engineers or Officers in various disciplines such as Chemical Engineering, Instrumental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering. Candidates are selected for the post of Graduate Engineers, Engineers or Officers, and Post Graduate Engineers in the organization.
Candidates with PG in Chemistry will be appointed as Assistant Officer/ Graduate Engineer/Officer based on their Gate score and performance in the interview. Only the candidates with valid GATE Cutoffs will be eligible for the further selection criteria. The complete list of shortlisted candidates for the required post will be released first based on the GATE 2022 Cut Off, and then the GD/GT and PI round will be conducted.
IOCL Recruitment through GATE 2022: Selection Process
The selection process of IOCL recruitment through GATE 2022 comprises the following steps:
- Shortlisting procedure: Candidates must have qualified in the GATE 2022 with good scores. Based on the marks obtained in GATE 2020 candidates will be shortlisted category-wise in descending order.
- Document Readiness: The candidates must produce valid and relevant documents to be considered for the selection process.
- Merit List: Based on the scores of GATE 2022, Group Discussion and Group Task, and Personal Interview the authorities will release the merit list. A minimum of 40% marks in GD, GT, and PI is required.
IOCL Recruitment through GATE 2022: Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed B.Tech./BE /Equivalent as Full-time Regular course from Institutions/ Colleges/ Universities/ Deemed Universities duly recognized by AICTE/UGC in anyone of the following disciplines:
- Chemical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Instrumentation Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
Students pursuing or have completed M.Tech in any discipline are also eligible to apply for IOCL Recruitment provided they have appeared in the GATE 2022 examination in the eligible discipline and completed B.Tech./BE in one of the disciplines above-mentioned.
Pass Percentage
For General and OBC (NCL) category candidates, the minimum percentage requirement is 65% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination whereas 55% aggregate marks are required for SC/ST and PwD candidates.
Age Limit
Candidates belonging to the General Category should not be less than 28 years of age as of June 30, 2022. Relaxation in age for reserved category candidates will be as per Government regulations. For Assistant Officers in Quality Control, the maximum age should be 30 years of age. Candidates must go through the eligibility criteria in detail before filling the application form.
