What could be the most valued tip for a WordPress user? For me or in my opinion blog security is the most valued tip ever. Any blog can be hacked any time. No matter how high security one has. But if you are well prepared you can deal with this.

From long time I had only one tension it was security of my blog. It is not about hacking because security is not only against hackers. If you remember TechCrunch was hacked and BoingBoing was also hacked. So what they do not have security?

If your server got crashed you will lost your blog without being hacked. The web hosting provider never gives you surety of site backup. They always recommend you to have your own backup.

But most of the bloggers do not have sufficient knowledge of backup. But it is easy you need to have some basic knowledge.

As a WordPress user you can lose your WordPress files or databases in three situations:

(1) Editing database files but does not have any backup
(2) Your server crashed and webhsot does not has a backup
(3) Your site got hacked and data has been deleted and you do not have a backup

So database back is most important for any WordPress user. You may take a daily database backup. You can use a plugin for it. I am using DB-Backup, it is great plugin but it for advance users so be careful while using this plugin. You can schedule daily back and you can download your backup for daily email. So your DB backup will be emailed to your preferred email address on daily basis.

Your database contains your all the posts, all the comments and all the connections between images, comments, posts tags and categories. It also includes the entire configuration.

After database there some other important files a folder that are image folder, config.php and .htaccess file. I use FileZilla to download and backup these files.
