Twitter is a top micro blogging site or we can say it is only micro blogging site at this time. Most of use Firefox as default browser. Some of Firefox add-ons can make your Twitter experience better.

(1) Echofon for Twitter
Echofon is available on many platforms and for Firefox too. You also can sync your tweets with iPhone and iPad. An Echofon button will be added to Firefox toolbar, you can use it on three different modes. It is full features Twitter client you can do most of the activities of Twitter without visiting web interface.

(2) HootBar
HootBar is also known as Twitter bar, you can post message on Twitter and on other social networks too. The tool Hootlet which comes with Hootbar gives you customization options.

(3) Power Twitter
This add-on makes your twitter better and adds many new features. By the time this add-on is getting useless because many of its features are now native features of Twitter but it is still useful. The Power Twitter settings will be overlaid on current Twitter interface. Some features as main stream inlining of YouTube, Flickr, TwitPic, Google Maps, song.ly, and all sorts of playable/viewable media. And also link shrinking, photo uploading, link translation, link expansion etc.

(4) Twitter Address Bar Search
This is an special add-on for twitter, this add-on integrate with Firefox search bar. A dedicated Twitter tab will be pinned and you can search twitter in awesome bar username, hashtags and normal search.

(5) shortxt – Post longer Tweets on Twitter
If you want to post longer tweets on twitter without going to any external web service or using external interface you can install this add-on and post large tweets using twitter interface.

What I Like in Firefox 6?

Firefox 6 was released in this month of August and it is more than one week. When I listen the news about Firefox release at upgraded my Firefox from 5 to 6 and I am happy. I like and support Firefox but Firefox was having some problem but hopefully it is solved in Firefox 6.

We all have seen a clear looking domain name in the address bar in Internet Explorer to prevent phishing attacks and this feature is now in Firefox 6. It is impressive and accepted but what I like I will tell you.

My Firefox was crashing many times and hopefully that is solved in Firefox 6 and now rarely crash. Because of crashing problem many times I was thinking to switch to Chrome but I stayed. And Mozilla solved this problem.

My Firefox was slow in startup but now I can see it is almost similar to Chrome in Startup time. This was the much aviated enhancement in FF.

While restoring previous sessions there was some issue with it but Hopefully this is also not an issue now.

Add Folders in Bookmarks Toolbar

I use bookmark bar to bookmark useful blogs and other websites. I do it sometimes temporary and sometimes for long time use. I simply drag and drop links on this bar. But think how many links you will bookmark? Actually you can bookmark as many as you want but those links will not be visible. To solve this problem I use folders. I was unaware of creating folders to save bookmarks. But I saw one of my coworker used to save bookmarks in bookmarks toolbar. It was really useful Idea.

If bookmarks toolbar is not enabled you can enable it. You can use this feature in other browsers too but my main concern is on Firefox.

Now it will be visible you can drag any link on this bookmarks bar to bookmark or save. But if you will create a folder and drag you link directly in folder, you will be able to organize your bookmarks effectively and it will save your space.

To create a folder in bookmarks toolbar right click there, you will see option as above screen shot, then click on new folder. New folder box will be open , you have to give the name of folder and you also can add description that is not necessary.

Now you want to bookmark any link just drag and drop that link in your folder. You can create some of folder to save important bookmarks to organize them. As I have created some of folders.

Language folder is for language and grammar related tools. Tools is a collections of useful tools that I use frequently. And other folders are also for social purpose. You can easily create and delete these folders for your use. Too organize your bookmarks click Ctrl+Shift+B on your keyboard.

Generate Password from Web Images and Text: ObPwd

ObPwd is an object based password generator add-on for Firefox. I use LastPass for me but this add-on seems interesting. Mostly we keep passwords in text files or on a encrypted server but ObPwd has come with different solution.

ObPwd generates strong password from your images or text in computer. So you can regenerate that password and you do not need to remember it or store it somewhere. This mean the same password will be generated every time with the same image or text that you do not need to remember or store. When you need to fill password or login just generate and fill.

You can generate password from a local file or from selected text or image.

Firefox Add-on For Screen Recording: Capture Fox

There are many software that you can use to record your browser screen and export as video. Screen capturing or screen recording is little different that taking screen shots of screen.
I was using some windows based program for screen recording but now I have got handy tool for screen recording and saving as video for my Firefox.

Capturefox is the website that has developed Capturefox Firefox add-on. After installing the toolbar you will see a camera icon on the status bar of your browser, just click on that, you can start in menu>>tools, or you can use shortcut key: Ctrl+Shift+U.

Firefox Add-on Drag and Drop Support

I really Like Firefox because of useful add-ons. There is Firefox add-on that will support drag and drop in wordpress editor. I think it is much needed feature of wordpress but it is not possible in core wordpress setup in any plugin but it is Firefox that has made it possible. I use Windows Live Writer to compose my posts.

Now doubt browse feature in wordpress editor is very slow specially on slow internet connections. So if you have installed this add-on you word is done.

This add-on is not just for Firefox it supports Gmail for add as an attachment via drag and drop, however, you can sue it for Google Docs too. however Google docs support drag and drop feature by itself. You can drag and drop multiple attachments. You also can use this add-on to drag and drop test snippets.

Firefox is still my default web browser, love it or hate but I love it. Most of general users know about Firefox add-ons but Firefox has some plugins too. It is recommended to update your plugins for security reason and to run Firefox smoothly. See above screen shot QuickTime plugin is not updated and showing Vulnerable so easily can attack on our browser. Silverlight plugin is also out of dated.

Firefox has a page PluginCheck there you can go check for plugin updates. You can check for plugin updates by going to tools menu and opening Add-ons.
