8+ Online RSS Feed Readers

If you read occasionally news then email news letters or email subscriptions are good, but if you are hungry for news and information then it is not enough, you need something else something more, you need RSS feed readers to satisfy your needs.

There are many RSS readers but it is not easy to include all of them in a single post. There are so many news aggregators also but I have tried my best not to include them in this post and to keep them for a separate post.

RSS readers have different look and feel but all serve same purpose.
In this post more than 9 RSS feed readers I have mentioned.
Some of RSS readers can be for online, and others for both desktop and online.
I am not aiming to provide so much detail only am concerning on resource.

Google Reader

Google is reader is now most famous online RSS feed reader. I have covered it sometimes before. You can read more here.

Bloglines

Bloglines is second most famous online feed reader.

Lazyfeed

Please do not go on its name or you may go but not right way. It’s not lazy but real time enhanced feed reader. It’s a new service.

Feeddemon

feed Demon is from Newsgator, it is for windows. Newsgator’s online feed reader is now shut down a few months ago.

Gregarius

Gregarius is web based RSS feed reader.

Reblog

It is another RSS based feed reader. You have to download it for using.

Snarfer

It is an simple RSS reader, which let you manage your feed smartly.

FeedShow

It is a smart online RSS feed reader and aggregator.

RSS Owl

RSSowl is free and powerful feed reader, which let you search and organize news in a convenient way.

Google Reader is a feed reader from Google and Google is always working on it to make your reading experience better.
Google Reader is Google’s one of the most criticized product in negative sense. But Google’s continuous effort to make it better really has made it my next feed reader.

Here are 10 reasons why you should use Google reader for reading feeds.

1) It is sociable:
Last update to Google Reader has made it sociable, now it is very easy to share your feeds on other social networks as on Twitter, Facebook , Digg, Delicious, Friendfeed.

2) Do more with your feed:
Sharing in Google Reader is not the latest thing but there more than it, you can save your feeds as PDF file in your computer, you can email it or you can simply share it anywhere you want, read Amit Agrawal’s post here.
You can translate your feeds with Google translator, read Matt Cutts’s post here.

3) Read it off-line:
Google reader allows you to read your feeds off-line only you have to install Google gears.

4) It is personal as social:
Google Reader gives you better control on over your feeds, you can share your folders or individual post or keep private.

5) Better control over shared items:
You can unshare anytime your shared items. And a different section for your friends shared items.

6) Better subscribing options:
In Google Reader you can subscribe any feed easily just enter URL of web page. By using Google Reader bookmarklet you can can subscribe any feed easily. And in more now you can subscribe your friends feeds as well.

7) Navigate to other Google services:
Google Reader is a Google product so it has some extra advantage of it as you can navigate to other Google services while reading your feeds as Orkut, Photos, Calender, Gmail, Documents or Google search.

8) Easy feed management:
You can manage your feeds easily the way want, it supports drag and drop so can send your any feed in any folder.
Easily create delete folders, easy subscribe/unsubscribe options.

9) Better preference settings:
Google reader is a Google service so it is connected with other Google services so you can control your Google reader’s behavior for better experience.

Now Retweet From Google Reader And Send Updates To Facebook, Digg, Delicious..

Today Google added one more feature in its Google Reader, so now you can retweet any article if you like that.
And not only retweet but also you can send your updates to Facebook, MySpace, Digg, Delicious.
Above links for sharing feed are default by Google Reader team but if you want to add more sources to share you can add , in Google reader there is option for it. You can see it in screen shot.

Where to find these settings in Google Reader for you and how to?
Navigate to settings> In settings navigate to send to (last one): this the link where you can set your options. Click on the services where you want to share your posts. See screen shot:

If any link is missing you can add it manually. See screen shot.

Google reader is well know for its late feed delivery so Google find out a solution for it in form of “Pub Sub Hubbub”.
So now Google reader is compatible with web 2.0.
