Web directory submission is one of the oldest and good methods to promote websites. And still many web masters depend on directory submission for their client’s websites, because it is easy and free way to promote sites. It is not fully free means you have to spend time and pay to your boy who will do this for you.

There are so many web directories, everyday new web directories come and die. We look for free directory and there are many website which let you submit your site freely, but not all.

Actually web directories get launched for money making but monetizing a web directory is as hard as monetizing a Wordpress blog. So directory owners look for possible customers, who can pay them. Most of web directories give you three options when you submit your site. One is free, second is reciprocal; in this option you have to give a link back to that site, and third is paid; you have to pay to get listed.

When you submit your site to any directory first check sites popularity because submitting your site in so many directories is only wasting of time because it will not help you any way. If you cannot pay and website let you submit your site with a reciprocal option; first measure the importance of link if that is not worthy do not submit, you can create a page for links where you can place all of your reciprocal links. If you are willing to pay you must be willing to submit your site that web directory; if you think this directory can bring me a good traffic you can pay.

Mostly top web directories let you submit your site free of cost but you have to care so much and find a relevant directory otherwise your submission will not be approved and if it got approved it would not work for you, because your aim is to get traffic not only backlinks.

When submitting your site in Dmoz, double check everything. Because getting approved in Dmoz takes minimum two months, it can take five months and if your site is not approved it may be not accepted. Dmoz do not decline submissions without a good reason they maintain quality and category and they do not ask any money. If your site is not accepted you can resubmit it in a proper category with good title and description.

Knowing some of Twitter directories is good, where you can submit your Twitter account and can find other fellow users or like minded peoples. This all help you to get and find more friends and followers. Seeing Twitter popularity visiting these directories is worth.
