If you like Bing there is one more reason to like it. Bing has launched Bing reward points program. To start getting points you have to login with your Hotmail ID or Facebook connect. Then you can join Bing reward program. But this program is not available for all the users I think. If you are US citizen you can join this program. Because I use Bing almost daily one time but I saw this offer for me first time.

I am using US preview for Bing So I was offered for Bing reward otherwise this program is only available for US citizen.

As a reward you can get Starbucks card, free mp3, travels, farmville bucks, gift card, entertainment etc. This is only available in united States because you do not get Cass but gift cards etc.

To use this program you have to search Bing and explore offers to earn credit.

Once you got this offer you can start earning Bing points, when you join Bing Reward program you get 250 points for joining.

If you do not know Bing has a directory of all the wallpapers you see on its homepage daily. But can not see it unless you are in US. Because it is part of Bing Visual search and that is available only in US. But you can easily change your country, watch video on this post. To see the Bing wallpapers directory.

See screenshot, you can browse this directory or gallery as you wish. You can download all the wallpapers but you will have to download each wallpapers separately.

We know Bing as a search engine but it is more than a search engine. It is a portal, it is a network, it is a collection of tools. Bing’s aim is to provide search on your fingertip. So there are some special searches that you can use.

If you really want to know what is Bing and what it will be you should know about Bing explore. Bing Explore is a page on Bing that has all the important links and services on Bing so you do not have to search for just visit Bing Explore and go ahead. Newly added services you will see here. And all the Bing services you will find here.

Mostly people use Bing for web search image search and video search. Bing has a visual search engine (here) for in gallery style. It also has recipe search. Simply Bing has a complete entertainment section.

Bing is trying hard to make its place in search market and hopefully it is number 2. It has been proved; you have a nice product but you can not sell it without a nice packing. While I was on Bing searching about my favorite celebrities, I just changed my country (India) to USA. And to my surprise results were different not completely but sure.

Sometimes I think Bing is bias with us otherwise why it uses different layout and design for USA that is better than rest of. However when you want you can change your country to USA.

To change your country look on top right corner of Bing, there you will see the name of your country, click on that. You will see there are many countries you can choose any of. After you will see the difference.

Bing Search Tips

Bing is a decision search engine from Microsoft, it is not going to beat Google but it is growing steady. If you search sometimes on Bing you can use some of the tricks to get quick and better results.

(1) When you search anything on Bing, results page has a preview of pages and important content of the page. It completely depend on that. On contact page it found my email address, for my homepage of blog it cached first post and popular links. Sometimes it does not results this option. Sometimes this take some time to load.

(2) Bing shows you related searches also, but when you search for a popular search term, if you search for techshali you will not find any related results. Bing detects the main website related to a term and that will be on first for your search term, see first result in image has a different background.

(3) Bing has advanced search options as well.

(4) If you search for videos, when you hover mouse over a video it will be played automatically, so you can see the preview of a video in Bing without playing it.

(5) Many features are like Google search as currency converter, weather search of a city, stock information, file format search.

Bing has a social feature Bing Social similar to Google real-time search. You can use it for real-time results, you will see results when a new result is available for your search query. Embed Bing Maps In WordPress Using Plugin

Google maps are perhaps most famous but if you want to embed Bing maps in your WordPress blog. Adding a customizable map in posts is not easy in WordPress but if a plugin is available your task go easy. And there is a plugin available for Bing maps in WordPress. Using this plugin you can add dynamic map that a user can use pan and zoom feature without visiting website.

I do not use maps for my regular works but maps are very useful for location tagging. You can get complete overview of a place before visiting it. If you had ever visited meetup.com, meetup.com uses maps to locate meetup places so one can easily get the overview of venue. And there are many map services; I know some of these services. You can use maps to search local services.

(1) Google Map:
It is Google map; I am used to work with. AS I have listened about it, it is most powerful map service. Most of map users should be familiar with Google maps. You can watch traffic of a place; you can see earth view and satellite view.

(2) Yahoo Map:
Yahoo map is from yahoo; it is also a powerful map service and has many features. Using Yahoo maps you can get driving directions and traffic status.

(3) Bing Map:
Bing map is from Microsoft, Bing has made more specific for business search, collections and location search. You can get directions and set map navigation.

(4) Ask Maps:
Ask maps is from ask.com. It looks simple at first site but its clarity is high and it is fast. It has bird’s eye view. Now Google and yahoo maps also has birds eye view. Ask maps are powered by Microsoft visual earth.

(5) Anya Maps:
Perhaps this map service is for Muslim countries. So you can search for only provided countries. You can search for weather and traffic.

How to Submit Sitemap in Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask.com?

For SEO site submission in top search engines is necessary, if your site is in English you can submit your sitemap in Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask search engines because these search engines are for English language. If you do not submit your sitemap in search engines, they will not crawl your posts and pages, and they could not be able to index your site contents so it is recommended to submit your sitemap in search engines. So in this post I am going to tell you how you can submit your site it top search engines.

For Simple static HTML Sites:
If your site is simple static HTML site or you are not using any special CMS you have to create an XML sitemap of your website pages because Sitemap are generally in XML. After generating your sitemap you have upload this page on your server as a page, the URL should be http://www.yoursitename.com/sitemap.xml

For WordPress
Or if you are using WordPress you can install Google XML Sitemaps plugin.

For Blogger
To submit your sitemap for blogger I am not going to tell you in detail but I have found a good post on Labnol.org you can read it here.
This (above line) link is with full guidelines to help you submit your blogger sitemap in Google, yahoo and Bing.

For Google Sites:
If you have website on Google Sites you can use following instructions to create a sitemap.

In below URL replace yoursitename withname of your site (as techshali not techshali.co or www.techshali.com) and paste in addrerssbr of your web browser and hit enter now your site’s sitemap page will be opened if everything is OK just not down this URL of your Google site’s sitemap.

Now it’s time to submit sitemap in various search engines.

Submit Sitemap in Google:
To submit your sitemap in Google you have to sign up for webmaster tools. After sign you have to submit your site in webmaster tools and have to verify it. After that go to site configuration in webmaster tools and click on submit a sitemap.
Your website name already there only you have to submit page name with extension as sitemap.xml and hit enter, your sitemap will be submitted in Google.
This will work for HTML sites and WordPress also.
Google Site sitemap:
As I have told if you have the URL of your sitemap (without .xml) you can now submit it in Google. Your site must be public to get verified.

Submit Sitemap in Bing:
To submit your site in Bing visit Bing webmaster and sign in to use this tool, to sign in you need a Windows Live ID you can sign up. After login you will be redirected to manage sites. There you can add your site and sitemap by clicking on add a site. On this page you can add your website address and XML sitemap address.
After adding your site you have to verify it by using any of method provided, visit profile page in webmaster.

Submit sitemap in Yahoo:
To submit your sitemap in Yahoo visit yahoo site explorer and login in with your yahoo ID. After login you can add your site URL as you can see in screen shot, you do not have to submit XML sitemap, to get all the benefit of yahoo site explorer you have to verify your site.

Submit sitemap in ask:
To submit your sitemap in ask.com replace techshali.com with your sitename.com and hit enter, if everything is OK you will see a page as you can see in screen shot. I do not know if it will work for wordpress.com, logger.com blogs and Google sites.

Which Website You Should Use as a Homepage in Your Browser? (10 Suggested)

As you know you can keep only one website as a homepage at a time and it is your personal matter which website to use as a homepage or do not use any website keep it blank. Most of users keep a website as homepage and do not keep a blank page.

If you do not keep any website as a homepage in your browser there should be reason for or if you keep a site as a homepage there also should be reason for.

I have set blank page as my homepage. There is a reason for it, I have very slow Internet connection and a blank page loads faster than Google.

Mostly people take care of these things before choosing a homepage:
Website should be very simple and clear (this reason can be apply for thousands of websites, I am not talking about them)
Website should be full of information like news, music, pictures etc.
They look for their interest; it depends on what they are or what they like to be.

Now which website you should use a homepage in your browser, I have chosen some of. This list can be controversial.

Google.com

Google is top website and it is a search engine if you like to search information on the web (if you search something on Google you do not search the web, you search only Google), it has a very simple, clear and the fastest website of the web. Most of people use Google as homepage.

Bing.com

Bing is a new search engine from Microsoft to compete with Google, Bing is a good search engine, I use Google for search but if you want to try other than Google, you can sue it.

Facebook.com

If you are social media junky, Facebook is second largest website of the web, it also has a very lite page until you login.

Twitter.com

Twitter is most famous microblogging site; it was suggested for Nobel Prize also. If you like Twitter most you will be using it as your homepage.

Yahoo.com

Yahoo is portal; here you can find news, music, video, email checking etc, so many people use it as homepage.

Yourowndomain
If you have a website, you should be using it as your homepage, you love you’re your website, there is nothing wrong.

Digg.com

It is also a very good news source, it also can be used a homepage, it is user driven data site, people submit news and if it get famous it get published on homepage of dig.

YouTube.com

It is world’s largest video sharing site and it is world’s third largest of all sites. If you like YouTube and videos you should be using it as your homepage. It is owned by Google.

Flickr.com

This is world most famous website for picture sharing, if you are an artist or like to share and see graphics and picture you can use it as your homepage. It is owned by Yahoo.

Thepiratebay.org

It is most famous website for searching torrents, if you like to search and download torrents you can set it as your homepage. It is also very simple and efficient.

I know there are so many websites that can used as a homepage in your browser, I have suggested 10 but you can suggest more.
