Did you know you can open online saving bank account in India?

My first saving bank account was in Bank of Baroda, I closed this account because of long destination and long waiting queue. My second saving account was in SBI, that is close to my society and this is my primary account for all the transactions. My third account was in ICICI, I closed it too, read second paragraph in this post. After that I opened two more account; one in Union bank of India and the other account in Bank of India. Now I have three savings bank account and all the branches are close to my society. I opened all these account offline by filling paper forms.

Now one can open a saving account online without visiting the bank branch. This facility is not available in all the banks and not for all the type of account. Some of the sites providing online saving bank account facility.

So in this post you will see some of the banks providing online saving bank account opening service.

If you go to open account in a bank with small deposit, you have to fill the tedious form but if you are ready to deposit 10 thousand or more rupees, then the bank employee will do everything for you except the signature.

After opening the online account still you have to visit the branch or the branch member will contact you.

(1) Citibank

You have to deposit minimum 2 Lakh rupees check, with this deposit you get balances across savings, term deposits, investments, insurance, outstanding principal on home loan and Citibank Demat Account. Citibank reward points never expire. Annual interest rate is 8.81%. You will never wait on customer care.

(2) Yes Bank

You have to deposit minimum 1 lakh rupees. Up to 1 lakh rupees interest rate is 6% and over it 7%. If you are willing to deposit over 1 crore you have to contact the branch.

(3) Bank of India

You can open an online account on bank of India, you have to fill the online form completely. It’s a DIY service. You need only 1000 rupees.

(4) HSBC

With a HSBC account you can do daily transaction of 40 thousand rupees. You need 75 thousand rupees to open an account in this bank. With the bank account you are eligible for HSBC credit card.

(5) Kotak Mahindra Bank

Kotak Mahindra provides easiest way of opening an account, you need to add 20 thousand rupees to open a pro saving account and 50 thousand rupees for Ace saving account. You get 6% annual interest.

(6) ICICI Bank

You can call an ICICI employee or you can fill online form to open an account in this bank. Offline process is more easy. Almost all the type of saving account are possible to open online. Regular saving account needs to maintain 10 thousand rupees.

(7) Axis Bank

Axis bank provides easy way to open an account online. In metro areas you need to maintain 10 thousand rupees, in urban area 5 thousand and for semi urban only 2500 rupees.

Online is never completely online, so after filling the form, one still has to face a visiting agent, check details, show ids, and sign forms, etc. I think the easiest account opening experience was when we were joining companies and banks had lined up to sign us for salary account. Those accounts are really good – no minimum balance, you get priority customer service, and so on.
