Homeshop 18 is a venture of Network 18, it’s a popular online shopping site, and it’s popular for providing a better online shopping experience. However, my shopping experience with Homeshop 18 was not very well.

I wanted to buy a grammar book of Oxford publications, for this book I visited local book stores but it was not available. So I was going to order it on Flipkart but if the order is less than 300 rupees, I have to add 30 rupees extra. And my order was of Rs. 225. I decided to do a search on Junglee; there, Homeshop 18 is giving away this book on 20% discount without shipping fee. So the book was going to cost me only 180 rupees. I was happy, I completed the order. But the next day, to my surprise, they refunded my money back. They didn’t told me that they couldn’t deliver my order because it was tiny, and they didn’t  mentioned about the minimum order amount for free shipping or about any shipping fee. They just refunded my amount.

I called Homeshop 18 customer care number to know the reason they refunded instead of delivering the item. They informed me that it is not possible for the company to proceed that order in my area, but if I could add more items in shopping cart then it could be adjusted.

It is not a surprise, it is obvious. No company can do a business on loss. So they are not selling the book on loss, they will sell it on a benefit, otherwise they won’t sell it. But they are promoting themselves on the name of 20% discount with free shipping.

I think they should clearly mention about the minimum order amount like flipkart, or a shipping fee.

These kinds of tactics are not good for a company for long term business.
