I never thought about 125X125 banners without a plugin or 125 widget ready themes in my blog. These days I am trying to do things without plugin in WordPress, plugins make blog slower because they load extra CSS, JavaScript, place holder image etc. All plugins do not do it. My theme has built-in feature for 125 banners but is has another problem I am unable to add nofollow tag in links. So the idea of adding 125 banners without plugin was a hit. You can see my sponsors in sidebar below subscriber box, all 125 banners are added without any plugin it is as simple as adding any image in sidebar.

125x125-banner

What you need?

125X125 banner or banners.

Links for banners

some copy paste skill of HTML.

How to add?

Upload you banner in library of your blog or any of image hosting services as Flickr, PhotoBucket or Picasa. And get the image link for that image; image should be exact 125×125 pixel of size. Get the link for destination URL.

You can see below I have used for 125 banner in sidebar:

<a href=”http://www.mysponsor.com/”><img src=”http://techshali.com/wp-content/bhandar/2010/06/sponsor_me.png” alt=”I am sponsored”> </a>

If you are done you can copy and paste your HTML code in sidebar in a text widget. Sorry for proving a cheap tutorial. I know most my friends are familiar with this but I was amazed to do it without any plugin.

Limitations:

You cannot rotate banners.

You cannot track clicks.

There is no easy way to add CSS. However you can add CSS.

It does not support PHP or JavaScript.
