We all know that Twitter is a place where everyone wants to be, and one has various reasons for it. Majority of people want to use Twitter for good purpose but a chunk of people make every effort worthless.

A massive amount of spam is daily dose of Twitter. People are abusing it many way, and they always try to find new ways to abuse it. Twitter’s effort to demise spam is very appreciating but still not enough.

I have tried to figure out, how people are abusing Twitter:

1- Sending useless DMs:
People on Twitter promote their product and services by sending DMs to their followers, and they send occasionally Dms to check their product or service and ask for your opinion; many time Dms come for money making opportunity or thousands of followers. That is pretty bad.

2- Mentioning other without purpose:
If one can not send me direct message , he simply mention my name in his tweet and his work get done.

3- Retweeting same tweet:
I think this the cheapest way of spamming Twitter, without mentioning anyone, without DM. People send same tweet or same link everyday on Twitter as they do not have another job.

4- Porn:
Twitter is very strict against porn, and suspends these user accounts, but always we can see them. Facebook is superior in demising spam.

5- Opening multiple accounts:
Having one account on Twitter is enough, but sometimes in some situation we can have more than one account as I have two accounts, one for my website and other for my name, that’s enough. But having 40 accounts or 80 accounts with serial wise names, this all make things worse.

6- Supporting new Twitter applications for followers:
Many people send automated tweets, something like “I just gained 50 followers in 20 minutes” or something else, it is also spamming Twitter.

7- Tweeting links for money making:
This is making Quality fully worst the quality of the content on Twitter. Money making is the base of many good or bad start. To make money on Twitter people tweet their tracked links, which will earn them some cash if anyone will click on them. I think this is the some kind of very strange activity.

8- Using bad words:
Twitter is a respected social networking site open to all. But not for sharing of all your feelings or conversations in open in your pretty bad words.

[...] En siste klar no-no er meldinger som dette: “I just become a member of this AWESOME site that gets you TONS of followers: http://…“. Twitter er ikke til for å få mest mulig followers på kortest mulig tid, da har du misforstått. Twitter er derimot for å bygge relasjoner, følge mennesker du har interesse av, og bli fulgt av mennesker som har interesse av deg. Alt annet er verdiløst. Mer om hvordan enkelte misbruker Twitter her. [...]

At present I’ve a few DM’s, and I can’t reply to them since they don’t follow me, why do they send them at all, especially when one of them writes that they are prepared to help with my twittering experience ?
