Getting a Driving License?

I haven’t driven four wheeler or car. I can ride bike and Cycle. I am still not a very good bike rider. If you know how to ride bike it is good you can take it with you on the roads for local journeys as for shopping and office or going to meet a friend etc. But if you go on main road as Ring road or Highway you need a driving license for two-wheeler vehicle or bike.

I do not know what is the process in other part of India but in Ahmedabad of Gujarat it is not easy. I got my driving license almost three and a half years ago but got my bike almost 6 months ago (thanks to blogging). I used a scooter for my driving exam. I did very well in computer for road rules knowledge because I was first and took only seconds to complete the test. But other process was not very well for me because I was failed to pass the exam of real two-wheeler test. The second time I failed as well but I paid Rs. 50 and the inspector approved me for the Queue of real Driving license. And it also took about 3 hours in standing place while moving in line with other people in same queue.

But the most painful thing was rejection of my documents. The officer who was approving valid documents, had rejected my documents for learning license.

So if you do not have a driving license and want to have one I will suggest you to hunt for an agent, because without an agent the officer may not approve your documents until more than double or triple proofs. I had gone trough an agent who provided me a book for exam and was with me in RTO so when my document was rejected he came and did some settlement with the officer and my document was approved.

So I had a PAN Card, a voter ID card, a ration card and LIC policy but it was not enough. However I remember ration card and LIC policy works as read on papers.

I have seen many of my friends do not have a driving license but they are clever enough to bypass the traffic police and some times they pay as well. But I want to say if you have Pan Card and Or Voter ID card, the agent can manage driving license for you. To contact an agent look in local area near your resident not near the RTO center.

I don’t think so if we don’t stop corruption from our end it’s a big problem for us in near future and we are seeing some bigger examples as well, yes it’s possible that you are not getting licence for first time but you can try asking a list of documents and then bring them together next time, if we are perfect in doing something why we give anything for getting work done.
We are the next generation of India and if we do this what we all expect from others.
Think about this.
