What I Like in Firefox 6?

Firefox 6 was released in this month of August and it is more than one week. When I listen the news about Firefox release at upgraded my Firefox from 5 to 6 and I am happy. I like and support Firefox but Firefox was having some problem but hopefully it is solved in Firefox 6.

We all have seen a clear looking domain name in the address bar in Internet Explorer to prevent phishing attacks and this feature is now in Firefox 6. It is impressive and accepted but what I like I will tell you.

My Firefox was crashing many times and hopefully that is solved in Firefox 6 and now rarely crash. Because of crashing problem many times I was thinking to switch to Chrome but I stayed. And Mozilla solved this problem.

My Firefox was slow in startup but now I can see it is almost similar to Chrome in Startup time. This was the much aviated enhancement in FF.

While restoring previous sessions there was some issue with it but Hopefully this is also not an issue now.

How to Update Dynamic IP Address in OpenDNS Network

OpenDNS is a domain name system resolutions service. I do not have much knowledge about this all. But I am using OepnDNS since 16 months. To monitor your network you can open an account in OpenDNS. It is useful for security, privacy and child safety.

Using OpenDNS you can easily configure your network for content filtering. You also can block specific domains on a network.

If you are using a dynamic IP address, it is not easy to monitor your network. So OpenDNS has a program for downloading, it is available for MAC, Linux and Windows. It is a small program that will run in system tray and it will send information to OpenDNS for your IP address changes. It is Open DNS Updater, it is only 220 KB. After installing it will ask for your OpenDNS email and password.

If you have more than one network in your account you have to choose a network to monitor for IP changes.

Now I do not play games and sometimes play. I play chess on first level and hardly I win ever. I can’t understand most of the games. I have played many games but just played, hardly won any game. Doom 2 was nice game I achieved some levels, at least two. I also played Bike Racing and achieved three levels. Hercules was also my favorite one, there also I achieved three levels. Many times I have played DX-Ball and achieved respected levels. I have won Minesweeper many times on beginner level.

I was searching for some websites where one can download free games for PC, I found many website claiming free download of games but non of them were free because to enjoy full game you must purchase.

But I found some of promising sites they may work and let you download full version games for free.
If a game is not free means that is not free still if you manage to get it then it is not legal. So if a website is offering free games there are chances of strings attached.

Now most of the games are going online to so you can play many interesting games online. To play online games you need to be online.

Music Oasis for Free and Legal Music Download

Music Oasis is a free music download service. They say it is a legal alternative to lime wire. They say it is 100% free and 100% legal. All the songs are in mp3 format. So you do not have to purchase.

When I downloaded this program it was only 2.2 MB, it uses Titanium an open source program to run oasis.

When I accepted Terms and conditions I was asked to accept and install some programs and toolbars, you can simply decline them as I did not installed any program. It was asking to install a trial version program PC speed maximizer. And some other program KwiClick, Registry Booster, face moods: a Facebook emoticons toolbar.

Finally it asked me to install shortcuts on desktop. Now actual software will start downloading because 2.2MB is just application and settings launcher. The installation process will begin after download completes. Actual size of this program is 13.71MB and it is needs Adobe Flash 10 to run.

Installation was completed in less than 10 minutes. As you know I did not selected any program to install so above discussed programs not installed but there were three shortcuts installed for screensaver and animated wallpapers. But these were shortcuts not programs. Using these shortcuts you can download them.

This mean this is a good program and you can get original music, DRM free music and legal. So you may not find your favorite music songs here but it is a good collection you can download any songs you like on Oasis catalog.

Start Using Dropbox

I was not using any online backup service, I know many online backup services but was not using any of. A day I got an email from someone to open an account on dropbox. So I told OK let open an account. I got again an email that I am a member of dropbox but not using it so I say ok let download dropbox and install.

I downloaded it and installed and login with my user name and password. I saw an icon of dropbox in icon notification area that was in blue color, it was an open box so it was perfect sign that I can drop anything. You can see a green check in below screen on dropbox icon, this mean everything is fine.

For my surprise there was a folder created named “Dropbox”. There was already two folders Photos and Public, if I have anything on public folder anyone can get that file if he is member of dropbox or not. Photos folder was an example of file. I can easily create and delete folders and organize my files. There was a PDF file too to get started with dropbox. I read that that file and knew what is dropbox and how it works.

When I right clicked on that icon in notification area I saw some of options, you can see below screen shot. I was happy to see it because I can open dropbox folder from here with one click and manage my files. With one click I was able to open dropbox website to use web interface. I also was able to see recently changed files. You can see I am using only 0.1% of 2.3 GB.

When I signed up for dropbox I got 2GB space free but you can see 2.3GB so what is the catch? There is no catch it is dropbox, the person sent me email to join dropbox he got 250MB free when I joined and I also got 300MB because I used his link to join dropbox.

Oho, I started talking about spaces, you can see above screen shot there is a preference menu you can set your preference as you can link computer with a drop box account or unlink. And many more settings.

So I started Using dropbox and it was simple I created some folders in DB folder and copied pasted some of my files in that folder and it was on dropbox in sometime. After a few days I got another idea and I left copy paste just started saving my files directly in Dropbox folder like any other ordinary folder.

Recently I bought a webcam it is nice with low resolution, that’s OK. The problem? I can use this with only one program at a time. If I am using my cam for Skype it would not work with Yahoo messenger. If I am using it with Yahoo messenger, it will not work with Skype.Or if I am on TinyChat it will not work with Camfrog.

So ManyCam is a solution for this problem, if you have installed ManyCam you can talk on multiple programs Simultaneously.

You can add text on your video with any application. You can show your local day and date on local video window.
