First time I listened about TheFancy as a Pinterest rival. I don’t know if it can be a Pinterest rival. But these days it is getting popular and being praised by social media addicts.

I got started with the site using my Facebook credentials. I added a username for one of my blog name. I selected some themes of categories. I also uploaded a picture taken from my mobile camera. It was necessary to provide a link for the product where one can buy that or get more information about the picture.

Like other sites it also have many of the categories you can browse but site has a simple look like a blog of pictures. You can “fancy it” any picture you like. On the top navigation you will see a bright yellow button to invite your friends.

If you own a device like iPhone or Android you can get it on that.

As you can above screenshot The Fancy is not just a photo sharing site but a market place where you can sell your items. You can create wish list, you can create your online store. You can buy an item on TheFancy, you can add an item to the cart. You will have to pay item cost, shipping cost and if tax applied. You need to add a shipping address. However it seems the shipping is available only for US cities. You will be proceeded to payment gateway.

Facebook is interested in India and there are many reasons for it. Facebook is now a top social networking site in India. Soon it can become a top site in India by replacing Googles. Recently a student from Allahabad IIM was offered highest pay by Facebook that was highest offering from a company working online. Facebook also opened new offices in India. In future it can move its head quarters in India.

How Facebook is Helping India to Learn Internet?

If one asks how to teach a child? The answer will be let the child play. If a child will play he will learn. Playing is the best method to learn something. A child learns lessons by playing games. Games can be indoor or outdoor.

The above explanation was about learning basics. Most of the people are still away from Internet. They can not understand internet terms. The main reasons of this is reach, ability and awareness. Now internet has entered in classrooms so new generation will come with internet knowledge but current working generation is still in cave. I still remember a good old man was talking about his daughter’s knowledge of Internet.

The social network Facebook has changed the current situations and changing it continuously. The people who do not know how to use internet and how to start and shut down computer. But They know what is Facebook. This is the success of a social network. Facebook is driving people to use it and this way they are learning other this as web browsers, search engines etc. When people sign in to Facebook to send a friend request they learn about a new feature of social network.

Seeing the interest in Pinterest many new websites are adopting Pinterest design and features. So Friendsheet is a mix of Pinterest and Facebook. To browse the photos of Facebook friends you need to login with Facebook. The purpose of this website is to browse Facebook pictures. Every shared will have detail of it as who shared it and how many times it has been liked, it also shows any related link or picture description. When you click on a picture it will show in light box that is similar to current Facebook photo viewer. You can disable photo viewer by pressing F5 key. If you share, comment or like any photo it will be shown on Facebook.

Seeing the success of Pinterest we can see rival of Pinterest and local sites or country based sites similar to Pinterest. Pintile is similar to Pinterest for Indian users. Users can pin Indian images. It is very similar to Pinterest because it seems a clone. If clones are Chines they become successful. We have already seen Twitter clones and we got the lesson copy cats can not get succeed. However I am not sure about the future of Pintile. It may be successful in future. In India people like Bollywood, Cricket, Humor and Politics and we can see them as popular boards. Users can login with Facebook and Google credentials.

Are you a member of Any Active Facebook Group?

Facebook profiles are very popular, similarly Facebook pages are also very popular. But a similar product from Facebook or a feature is Facebook groups. I was never a fan of Facebook groups. But I was a member of many Facebook groups but I was an inactive user of Facebook. When I became an active Facebook users I quitted most of the Facebook groups or set to get no notifications.

And Now I am member of some of the active groups on Facebook. Any Facebook member can start a Facebook group here. People are using Facebook groups for traffic, leads, money, business, product selling etc. But there are some groups created to help others. Specially tech bloggers are helping others. These groups have their own rules and have many of public admins.

Two of Facebook groups I will mention in this post I find helpful for community. These Groups are Bloggers_Lounge and Tech_Bloggers. I visit these two blogs mostly for reading questions and answers. But only problem with these groups is ongoing spam problem. Many of bloggers do miscellaneous propaganda. Otherwise Facebook groups are superior alternative of forums and Q&A sites. Group creator easily gets advantage of Facebook platform to get group members.

There are many websites for food recipes. Foodily has some social features. You can imagine foodily as a recipe network for friends. As Foodily is on Facebook as an app here. You will get recommendation on Facebook for what you should cook, the app will share your recipes. While searching you will get suggestions. You also can add filters in search results. In more Pinterest like search results makes it more interesting. On search results you will sign as LF (low fat), HF (high fat), LC (low carb) etc.

You can add recipe to your favorite, add in a list and share it on Pinterest and other social media sites.
