I guess the difference for this one is that we promise it’ll be up as long as the Internet exists. It runs on our own servers (we’re primarily a hosting company) so can keep it redirecting with little extra cost to us.

That is not free, at least you will have to pay for short domain name. Or you can go for a bit.ly Pro.
