Unlike social bookmarking sites you have to submit once your blog and forget everything.

In most of blog directory you have to register first. And that is a good.

usually it is not a blog directory but a blog search engine. There you can submit your blog if you have not submitted yet. And every blog directory is blog search engine.

Technorati
Technorati is one of the oldest blog directories only for bloggers. As Google is for page rank, Alexa is for site rank, Technorati is for blog rank. Now there are other ideas to get on top and get visitor, so now there is no magic like before for Technorati.

You know it is blogcatalog. Probably it is most famous blog directory. One thing I have observed, large blogs do not like to be a part of Blogcatalog, but almost all small or medium size blogs and bloggers are on blogcatalog. And that is very good. There is a nice feature called “Broadcast”.

Blogged is another respectful blog directory; they provide a rank for your blog when your blog is approved. You can follow other blogs and bloggers. Your RSS will be already aggregated once your blog is approved.

Directly Zimbio is not a blog directory but a magazine, where you can publish your magazine and in magazines you can publish your blog posts. There are other features also.

Eatonweb measures submitted blogs by many aspects and define importance of submitted blogs; they do things that Google also like.

This blog directory also index blogs submitted by their authors.

This is also a good directory of blogs, Goledy gives ranking for your blog.

It is similar in look and feel like other web directories but it is for blogs. You can submit your blog in relevant category.

This is also a large blog directory listing so many blogs. This is similar to Bloggernow.
