There are so many networking sites but this post is for general social networking sites. Facebook and MySpace are general social networking sites. I am not including microblogging sites in this list; you can visit those sites here and here.
General social networks are for common people, there are so many other social networking site, but they are in special category Linkedin is for business.
Back to 2004, it was a new start for social networking sites and so many new social networks arose.
Facebook
Facebook is most famous social networking site and now number in all websites, what more can I say about Facebook. Perhaps you know more than me about it, that’s it.
MySpace
Someday MySpace was on top but now not. But still number 2, and there it should be I think, how you can forget your first love?
Orkut
Orkut! You know it, I am sure if you’re from India or Brazil. Acquired by Google.
Hi5
Another famous social networking site, If you like social networking sites, I am sure you already will be a member of Hi5.
Bebo
Bebo is property of AOL. I think this only female social networking site. I really like it.
Tagged
Tagged! Its content is not suitable for children and vegetarians. But you will like you can buy me or sell me there. But I don’t like this idea.
Zorpia
Would you like to verify yourself a real person on the web, may be not but I like it. You can be true Zorpian there. It’s not a jock, you try it.
Perfspot
Every social networking site shares many things same. But they express it very differently, and what appeals most. It is a true community site for friends.
Ibibo
Ibibo is specially for Indian peoples and it is famous in India.
Bigadda
Bigadda is also India site and it is for Indians.
Friendster
As its name suggests it is also for friends. It connects with everything. That matters you.
Netlog
Netlog is also a general social networking site.
Myyear Book
This is also a famous site but only in USA. Making friends is main concern.
Badoo
This one is also good, you can find me there.
Faceparty
This is also for networking lovers.
Hyves
This one is also for social network junkies.
Kiwibox
This looks simple, but nice.
Skyrock
This is a free people network, you do not have pay.
Blackplanet
This one also should be in this list.

Hello Madhav. I’m not familiar with most of the sites you placed here, but I do know facebook, myspace, and friendster. I use facebook and blogcatalog to make friends in the blogosphere and it has been pretty efficient so far. Anyway, thanks for sharing this resource. I might actually try the rest when I ultimately get rid of my real social life. lol.
