I think most of the productivity tools are wasting of time so now I am trying to do the things without any tools of productivity. Productivity is important because it saves your time so you can complete more tasks in less time. You can become more productive in two ways. 1: Using some productivity tools. 2: Changing some bad habits that are waste of time.
For a blogger blogging is the only important thing that you do for good and all other things are supporting things you do with or without a purpose if you take a lot of time in checking emails that is only a waste of time. So posting more and more quality post is only thing you should consider. It is most important when you are one man army. If you observe you will find blogging and blogging related things are enough to eat your all the time.
To do online things offline support is very useful so I have included some of offline productivity tools.
(1) Use Firefox:
Firefox is fast and secure web browser and it has so many add-ons, add-ons make your work easy so you do not have to install extra program and use online services, this way you can become more productive at work. It is multi tabbed browser so you can keep your opened sites in same window and switch between them any time.
(2) Use Google Services Effectively:
Google is a suite of online services and it is almost free. You get all the services with one free account, Gmail, docs, search engine andreader and many other services. You can use Gmail for email checking and composing; use Google docs for document creation. Google reader for reading RSS feeds.
(3) Use Ping.fm and Hellotxt for sharing
Ping.fm and Hellotxt are online services using them you share your articles to many social networking, blogging and microblogging sites with one click. I use both services because both are lacking some of services however both have important services. Writing a post is not enough after writing you publish and after publishing it you submit it to notify your friends that you have composed a new post and read it please. But if you do this by visiting each service one by one it will take your important time, so save your time using these services.
(4) Google.com: Keep it opened all the time for search:
For a blogger information is everything. Google is a powerful search engine I use it anytime to search anything. You can keep it opened in a tab to search any time.
(5) Use a Blog Editor For Blogging
I use Blogdesk for blog editing that has not development since long time but it is a good blog editor with useful features. Windows Live Writer is also avery good blog editor.
(6) Use notepad++
I use notepad++ for my important notes, it is a super productivity tool. Notepadd++ is a multi tabbed editor. It remembers your previous opened tabs; you can set it in settings. It is a simple text editor yet powerful. I use it for editing CSS and HTML files, to keep important codes and text for copy and paste work. List of useful blogs and websites and of course for to do lists.
(7) Use Open Office:
Open Office is an office productivity suite and an alternative of Microsoft office. It has a collection of tools. Write is an MS Word alternative and Calc is an MS Excel alternative.
(8) Use a dedicated drive for blogging activities.
In my PC I have allotted a drive to keep my online works as images, posts, theme, pluins, lists etc.
(9) Avoid to-do lists:
To do lists are useless if you are a blogger, to do lists are entrepreneurs and business men or managers. If you make to do lists you will find you can do all the things without to do lists. To do lists eat your time. However it is necessary you can make little notes of most important things.
(10) Set specific days and time for most of task:
It is not easy to set a time for all the tasks but you can set a time for most of your online tasks that are nothing more than wasting your time. Many bloggers waste their time in checking and replying emails. I check my emails weekly. You can set it for three times in a week that is enough for a blogger I think. Unsubscribe any unnecessary newsletter or email list. Set your online accounts not to send notifications. If you think why you get emails and why you read them you will find for nothing. If you get any email for advertising inquiry or for a sponsored post that is important. Check your analytic account weekly. Check your adsesne earnings monthly.
Social networking sites are definitely wasting of time you may avoid it at any cost. I think bloggers are different from other online guys, who surf internet for seeking girls, chatting, watching videos, images etc, so you can use them weekly.
These are only ten tips you can find more.
